A Game of the Mind

In recent weeks, Caleb has taken a great liking to the game of golf.  I shouldn't be surprised, as it is quite possibly in his genes.  Both of his grandpa's thoroughly enjoy this game and spend many a day playing it.  In fact, Grandpa Mann volunteers at a course every week and for the past few weeks Caleb has joined him to help out.
When he found out that his middle school had a golf team, he immediately decided he was going to try out.  In middle school this is a cut sport and Caleb has only had one other experience of trying out for a sport where there was a possibility he wouldn't make the team.

After spending two days trying out for the team, he learned that he just didn't have quite enough hours behind his belt and he didn't make the team.  He handled it like a pro!

Regardless, Craig and I decided we needed to give him more opportunities to practice this new found love, so we took him out on Sunday for a round with the two of us.  We both took lessons a while back and while we don't play a ton, we do enjoy the game.

It turned out to be a great morning for all of us. In fact, Caleb was able to shoot 10 strokes less than the game he played during the week for tryouts.  Looking forward to watching him grow in this new found love!
