As most of you know we tend to do some crazy things. During the 93 hours and 46 minutes or 5485.8 miles that we spent in the car over the past three weeks, we decided to keep ourselves entertained by trying to find as many signs along the highways that caught our attention. We were able to find all of our names, except Jen and Caleb. That's okay though...it was a great way to pass some time!
First up was our Miss Emaleigh. While it wasn't spelled the correct way we couldn't resist capturing this sign we found in Kansas.
Next up was a sign that said Nickajack Lake. Unfortunately, I accidentally deleted it and wasn't able to post it. Anyway...it honor of our dear friends back home in CS, we took a picture and passed it along! By the way...it was a rather large lake that I am sure Craig would have enjoyed fishing a day or two on. Maybe we'll have to plan a trip back to Kentucky for a visit!
Then came this sign. Next exit..."Niceville." It couldn't have come at a better time during our trip. We were somewhere between Alabama and Mississippi when the kids began to fuss in the backseat. Then we saw this lovely sign which changed the whole attitude of all of us!
On our way out of New Orleans one of the first cities we passed was a town called Gonzales--which for those of you that don't know is my job partner's last name. They happen to have a Cabela's (one of Craig's favorite stores) so naturally we had to stop for a detour. If you click on the picture to enlarge it you should notice that Gonzales is the jambalaya capital of the world. Well, this excited Craig so much that we decided to eat lunch at Don's Seafood House. Much to his dismay this seafood restaurant located in the same parking lot as the giant water tower sign did not serve jambalaya!! Go figure!
Who would have guessed that while touring the ever so small town of Marshall, Texas (which by the way the movie The Debaters starring Denzel Washington was filmed here) we would come across an appliance store bearing Craig's name. What a hoot!
And finally, our beloved Nana. When we were passing through the last city in Oklahoma just before entering Colorado (our home sweet home) we noticed this store featuring many of Pam's favorite things!
It was an amazing adventure. One that none of us soon will forget!
