This evening I am feeling really ready for spring. Warm weather. Leaves on the trees. Cute skirts with sandles. The sun basking on my skin. I am not sure I can handle any more snow storms, but I know they are coming. In fact, they are predicting another weekend of snow. Ugh...take me back to Havasu now! Enough already.
God, please bring the sun and warmth soon! I am not sure I can endure anymore gloomy weather.
Well perhaps a light spring touch to the blog will brighten the spirits!

Coming Home
Upon returning from our long weekend in Lake Havasu, we were faced with making a decision about our transportation situation. As most of you know, Craig was involved in a minor fender bender on an icy morning in early February. Most importantly everyone involved was fine. In fact, we thought even our car--a 1999 Toyota Camry that was the first brand new car we ever bought--was fine, too. It just suffered some minor cosmetic damage, but still drove like a gem. Even with its 140,000 miles on it.
While it took a little over two weeks for the insurance company to get back to us, we were amazed with the decision they made. They decided it was not worth making the repairs and wanted to total out the car and write us a check instead. We were shocked. It drove great! We didn't want to say goodbye to it yet. We knew it would easily get another 50,000-100,000 miles. Yet we were faced with making the decision to fix it and take a small loss, or to use the money from the insurance company and reinvest in a newer car. After much deliberation we realized we would never get what the insurance company was offering us even if we tried to sell it ourselves. So...we decided to say goodbye.
I went to pick up the license plates and the few things we left in the car yesterday. It was a sad moment. We had been driving this car for 11 years. We made many memories with this car. We brought home our newborn son home in this car. We traveled far and wide in this car. We really enjoyed having this car.
But...it is just a car. Nothing could compare to what God has in store for us and we are grateful for all that He has brought into our lives. We are thankful no one was hurt in the accident and we realized this was His way of telling us to trust in Him to bring us what we need.

Another Day in Paradise
Today we ventured on the boat and headed up the Colorado River. This river is the greenest river we have ever seen. Pictures don't give it justice, but it is such an amazing site. The canyon up the river is so beautiful and peaceful.

The Lake
Ema & Caleb's favorite part of Grandpa and Grandma's place is the lake! They have a beach right at the base of there house that grandpa built steps to a few years back! Whenever we can't find them all we have to do is look down at the beach.

Happy Valentine's Day
After playing on the beach for a bit, Caleb came running up to offer me a gift. it was the most amazing rock I had ever seen. A heart within a heart. And to be found on Valentine's Day was even more special!

A Ride on the Boat
A ride in the boat today led to a blue heron bird sanctuary, a picnic at Disneyland beach, a ride under the Little London Bridge and of course two kids that got couldn't wait to get behind the wheel!

The Ice Caves
This morning we made a stop at the Ice Caves in New Mexico on our way to visit Grandma abs Grandpa. This site is a volcano that erupted over 10,000 years ago. One of the hollowed out lava tubes formed a frozen pond that is about 20 feet deep. The cave in which it is located rains at a constant 30 degrees so the pond stays frozen year round.

The Continental Divide
We have been to the Continental Divide near Aspen CO many times, but never in New Mexico. After leaving the Ice Caves we started heading up this little hill when we saw this sign.
We couldn't resist stopping and taking advantage of the photo opp! Not quite as high as the one closer to home!
