After doing our morning rituals...going outside for a morning relief, filling the food and water bowls...giving the cat what he needs...reading the morning news...we decided to head out for a morning walk. I have been feeling a little unsettled lately, and thought that might work. While it was a chilly but gorgeous Colorado morning, and the walk did feel fabulous, I still was not feeling completely whole.
Then it dawned on me. I have been so busy with my life these past monthes and I have not taken time to be alone with my creator. For those of you that know me well, you know my faith is the center of my life. Of course there are times when I get distracted, but for the most part I rely very heavily on my relationship with Christ. Since going back to work this year, I have been distracted. I know what I need to do (read, fellowship, love, trust), but I seem to be looking for excuses so that I can do other things that don't involve God.
Well this morning for the first time in a very long time I picked up my faithful friend. My dark green life application Bible. I love this one the most because whenever I don't fully understand the text, there is a passage below that will help clarify a passage in today's language. This helps me to apply it to whatever I am going through in my own life.
This morning I looked at my Bible differently. I noticed for the first time that it is starting to look worn. Many of you know that I like to replace things once they don't look just right. However, a very good friend of mine once shared the beauty that when something is not perfect that means it has character. I've always know the Bible is special, but now I am seeing just how special it is. It's worn and somewhat torn pages provided me with the settelness I was so longing for this morning. The words jumped off the pages and jumped into my heart. My prayer for each of you reading this is simple: May you experience a sense of peace in your life that brings you much happiness and joy.
