In the midst of it all...

Don't you just love lazy summer afternoons? Today, my husband got home around 3:00. We headed out to the frontyard, and laid down in the grass under the tree we planted 7 years ago which is finally providing some much needed shade. Craig was reading the grocery store ads, Ema was reading her latest American Girl magazine, Caleb was sanding the pinewood derby car he and his dad started making this past weekend, and I laid lazily on my husband's lap while I read the latest Country Living magazine. The most relaxing hour spent so far this summer. After a refreshing glass of ice cold lemonade we'll be heading to a local farmer's market to pick up some fresh veggies, and listen to some live music. In the midst of it all...life sure is great!

Our Toothless Boy Wonder

After wiggling his tooth most of the day, Caleb came down in the late afternoon to announce his tooth was bleeding. I said, "Would you just pull it out, already?!" To which he replied, "Not quite yet!" As he was heading upstairs to disgust his sister out, the darn thing fell right out!


Shortly, before Emaleigh lost her 1st tooth, we bought this great book. It is here that we have been able to record all of the momentous occasions of when the tooth fairy made a visit to our home!

A Soggy 4th

A little depressing, considering all of the rain we've had the past two days, but the good news is the fireworks were already cancelled due to budget cuts!

Summer Hockey League

This summer Caleb decided to do another session of inline hockey. He has really taken a liking to this sport. The last two seasons he has played on the 5-7 year old league, but this time he moved up to the 8-10 year old league. He is finding it to be somewhat of a challenge, as he is the littlest player on the team, but after 4 games he is now getting into the swing of things. Although last night he had a small casuality. He got nailed by a puck on the side of the leg where there is no protection. He was a trooper though. After a short break on the bench he was right back at it!

A Morning Conversation

This morning Emaleigh came downstairs after spending some time reading in bed and announced she learned something new. "When I turn 14 I can work in the hospital by delivering things to patients or helping stock the ambulances with things they need." Since she was four years old she has told her dad and I that she wants to be three things...a pediatrician, a horse trainer and a mommy. I wonder which of these dreams will become her reality. No matter what she chooses, whether it be one of these dreams, or a new one that she stumbles upon after reading something new, I look forward to seeing how her future unfolds. Just one of the many gifts of being a parent.
