A True Summer Day

A true sign of summer is playing in the water. Whether it be hanging out at the pool, running in the sprinklers or having a really good water gun fight with friends. Today our friends Jack and Nick stopped by and we invited our other friends Alex and Nick to join in the fun!








Over the weekend, Caleb and Alex couldn't resist having a show down.





Aahh! What a great way to spend a summer day!

Surprise

I wasn't expecting it this morning. I was just going about my business when I heard some clinking in the kitchen. "What is that sound?" I thought to myself. Then I realized what it was. Caleb was loading the dishwasher. I never asked him to do this chore before. His dad and I have always just done it. What a wonderful surprise, just when I was feeling a little down in the dumps (see previous entry), my son managed to pull me out! I imagine this is how God feels when we do something small but wonderfully surprising?!! You know, maybe like picking up a piece of trash that someone left behind at the park, or allowing that person merging into heavy traffic to squeeze in front of you, or simply just smiling at a stranger. It is truly the simple acts of kindness that are so important.

The Power of Love

This morning I woke up feeling a little out of sorts. Not sure for the explanation, but God never promised every day would be a good day. In my quiet time this morning, I remembered one of my favorite websites that I refer to now and again. The first time I saw it was about seven years ago. It made me cry then just as it makes me cry now. How deep the love is that God has for us. He never said it would be easy, but he surely wants us to appreciate everything that each day has to offer. May you enjoy this as much as I do.

Picnic and a Movie

Today we went to our annual neighborhood picnic for lunch and then took the kids to the movies.


When Emaleigh was 6 years old Nana and I took her to New York City to the American Girl Store. It was here that she decided she wanted to have Kit.

When we heard the Kit Kitterege Movie was coming to the big screen it seemed only natural that the three of us would go.

Caleb wasn't too interested, so Dad took him to see Wall-E. It was the first time we'd taken the kids to see separate movies.





We all had a great time!

My Time

The early morning. You know that time before the hustle and bustle of the day begins. The time when everyone in the house is still sleeping. This is one my most favorite times of the day. This is my time. This is the time when I get to do whatever I want to prepare for the day. Read. Journal. Exercise. Check my email. Blog. Spend time with my Father. Whatever I want all in the the solitude of quietness.

Aahhhh....early morning. Let the day begin!

We're Packing Our Bags...Again!

Hard to believe, since I just spent a month away in June, but Craig and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to spend a few days together...Vegas style!

Grandma mentioned the airlines were having a sale, so we checked it out. We couldn't pass up the deal, so in a week and a half we'll be packing our bags. The kids get to go to 'summer camp' at Grandma and Grandpa Mann's house, and with much appreciation, we'll be heading to win it big!!??!
