It's been a crazy long journey, but after two years it looks as if this journey may be slowing down a bit and coming to an end.
It is so hard to believe that it was about this time two years ago that Craig mentioned a property he had seen online that was for sale. The property had two homes and 40 acres. And at that time, we thought it would be the perfect set up for raising our kids.
After much discussion and asking God for guidance, we feel as if He has answered our prayers. We weren't certain this was in His plan for our lives. We just knew that we had to at least make an effort to follow what we thought was His will. Living with my mom wasn't really in our long term plans. I mean really who wishes for that?! But after making the choice to live our lives with God as the center, the feeling that He wanted us to share this journey with Pam seemed clearer and clearer as we continued on the path. Of course there were moments when He tested our patience beyond what we thought we could handle, but that just brought us closer to Him. Just love the way He works like that! It always makes us smile...in hind sight of course. Never in the heat of the moment. We are still learning to trust, after all!
The one area we were still questioning was whether or not Nana would be joining us. Well that question was put to rest about two weeks ago when the offer came in on her house and they needed to close in three weeks. That meant that she would be moving in on March 31st.
So today we prepared for her arrival. Caleb agreed to give up his room for the time it will take to decide where her addition will be added. Within the year, we are hopeful that God will continue to answer our prayers and allow us to add on an apartment with a separate bed/bath/kitchen//living, etc. Of course we are open to whatever His will is, but for those of you who believe in prayer...sending one our way in regard to this desire would be much appreciated!
When Nana put her house on the market, Craig walked our 3 bedroom home and started to think of various options of where everyone would sleep given that she would move in before the addition could be added. Love how he is always thinking that way! The original plan was for Ema to give up her room for Nana, and then she and Caleb would split his room in half since it is so big. But late one night as we were talking around, he mentioned the idea of the using the entry way. Mind you, this is not ordinary entry. It really is bigger than the kids room at our last home. The shape is just different and it happens to be where our front door is located, so that's kind of weird, but fortunately we have two sets of french doors off our main living area and using one set as our main doorway temporarily is no big deal. In fact, when we tossed the idea out there, Caleb was thrilled. In fact, he couldn't stop bugging me about when he would get to move his room. When I asked him why he was so happy about it, he said he felt his room was too big. Really?!! Who says that?!! Needless to say when I said this was only temporary, he was a bit bummed. Who knew?!
Just to give you an idea of what the space looks like, here are a few pics.
