Cotton Candy Anyone?
Last week Grandma bought all the kids their own bucket of cotton candy but the adults ended up wanting some, too. So this week at Sunday Dinner Craig brought along the cotton candy machine. Grandma and Aunt Katie ended up buying some in bulk at Sam's, but that didn't stop Craig from treating the kids and the adults to the yummy fresh homemade version.

A Day on the Lake
Craig had the day off, so we decided to venture down to Pueblo and use Grandpa Mann's boat for the day. It was the first time the two of us used the boat alone so it was somewhat of a feat. I had to learn how to launch the boat, drive the jeep with the trailer attached, and even drive the boat. I ended the day by attempting to put the boat back on the trailer--without success, of course! The kids had a blast, as did the two of us! It was a very relaxing day of tootling around the coves and throwing out the tube for the kids to relax in. We had to teach them to use their life vests so next time we can use the big tube! The boys casted out a few lines to try to catch a fish or two while the girls enjoyed a great book or two.

Caleb doing what he loves most...skipping rocks! This area had the best skipping rocks. They were all flat.

Ema on the Top of the World...or rather, the Top of the Hill!

My favorite part of Pueblo Reservoir is the bird sanctuary found near the west end. It is a beautiful sight.

The kids really enjoyed hanging out on the tubes. Even when the rope came unattached and Caleb started drifting away and when Emaleigh lost her balance and the tube flipped, the two still managed to have a great time!

Continuing On
Today we celebrated Emaleigh's 5th Grade continuation. She is now officially a middle-schooler. The emotions we felt were much stronger than we had anticipated. But, we just remind ourselves that she is simply on loan to us for these few years. We must always remember to cherish these moments for what they truly are--fleeting.
We are so glad God chose us to be her parents. The experience can be very humbling at times and we may not always know exactly how to handle each situation, but God has entrusted her to us and we are filled with with much gratitude.
We look forward to the next part of this journey and what it has to offer!

Happy Mother's Day
Today, I was greeted by my lovelies with breakfast in bed. They made the most delicious pancakes I had ever tasted! The best part was they even cleaned up their mess. I just love how they are growing up into such great kids.
After breakfast we headed over to Grandpa Mann's to head down to Pueblo to take the boat out on the reservoir. It was very relaxing and a great way to hang out on Mother's Day.

The best kids ever

Tootling along when we crossed paths with some hungry ducks. Of course the kids couldn't resist feeding them some lunch

Caleb fashioning a great pose as we wait for the boat to be inspected before sending it into the water

Crazy Noises
This evening as Craig was hosing off some dirt in the yard, he heard a crazy noise. Much to his surprise, he looked up to see this on the side of our house.

Considering we have only seen one or two squirrels in our neighborhood over the past 8 years, we were shocked to see one hanging on to the side of our house!
